This is a Secret Santa guide: it's for when you've pulled a name out of a hat with a £10 limit and you don't know the person well – a colleague from another team, a friend-of-a-friend at a group swap, a new in-law. When you do know who you're buying for, our Gift Finder will do a better job: tell it who they are and what they're into, and it ranks gifts for that person. A lot of what's sold as a "£10 gift" is novelty clutter that ends up in a drawer by January, so the picks below are all safe, widely liked things people actually use.

This guide sticks to things people actually use or enjoy – good chocolate, proper card games, cosy basics and small branded treats – all of which were listed under £10 on Amazon UK when we checked on 1 November 2026. Prices move constantly in the run-up to Christmas, sometimes by a few pounds in a day, so check the current price before you buy.

How we chose these gifts

We haven't hands-on tested these products. We shortlisted items listed on Amazon UK under £10 on the check date, then filtered for gifts that are widely liked, easy to wrap and post, from recognisable brands where possible, and with clear listings stating size or contents. We avoided anything that only works as a joke.

Samply 2L hot water bottle with knitted cover (navy)

  • 2 litres

Allergies, diets and other considerations

Food gifts are the most popular choice at this price, and also the easiest to get wrong. Lindor and Ferrero Rocher contain milk, and Ferrero Rocher contains hazelnuts; if you know someone is vegan, dairy-free or has a nut allergy, a game, tea or a cosy gift is a safer bet. Some people also avoid sugar in January, so a consumable that keeps – such as tea – can be more welcome than something that needs eating quickly.

For skincare, a lightly fragranced hand cream or a lip balm is usually fine, but avoid anything heavily scented for colleagues or people with sensitive skin. And for children, check the age guidance on games: small parts aren't suitable for under-3s.

Making a £10 gift feel generous

  • Bundle two small things. A card game plus a bar of chocolate, or a hand cream plus a pair of bed socks, feels more considered than one bigger item.
  • Wrap well. Brown paper, string and a sprig of rosemary costs pennies and makes anything look special.
  • Add a note. Particularly for teachers and colleagues, a sentence of thanks matters more than the gift.
  • Think consumable. Things that get eaten, drunk or used up are rarely unwelcome.

Delivery tips

Christmas 2026 falls on a Friday. If you're ordering small gifts online, check the delivery date shown for each item before you buy – low-priced items from marketplace sellers sometimes ship from abroad. Our last-minute gifts guide has more on delivery timings.

The bottom line

Under £10, the best gifts are consumable, inclusive and good quality for their size: premium chocolate, a proper card game, a cosy basic or a small branded treat. For office swaps, see our Secret Santa guide; if you can stretch a little further, try gifts under £20.
